Digital Alchemy Security and Privacy Policy

  • Server security
    • Both the software Web server and Customer Support server are on a single DELL enterprise server (hardware) running Windows Server 2019
    • This server is located in a managed (Colocation Northwest) data center in downtown Seattle 24-hour staffed security requiring card key and physical key to access. This data center is SSAE16 Type II Certified.
    • Server uses a registered Digital Certificate for all connections – which ensures that our URLs are connecting to an authenticated server
    • Connections to the server must use SSL encryption (https://)
    • All account passwords are one-time hashed (decryption is not possible)
  • Access to free versions of Simergy
    • In exchange for access to a free or paid versions of Simergy, we require that an account is created on the website. Information collected is:
      • Name
      • Organization
      • City & Country
      • Organizational email address
      • Personal password (so they can log into the account)
    • This information is encrypted and stored in an SQL Server database on the web server described above
    • During registration, the user is informed that, by completing the registration process, they have given us permission to send periodic news and marketing information to the registered email, but this is not shared with any other company.
  • Simergy Professional Licensing download, and installation
    • When purchasing a Simergy professional license on the website, the purchase is handled by PayPal’s credit card processing. We do not store any data associated with the credit card processing, nor do we allow the browser to save it.
    • Once the user email address is authenticated, they receive an email with instructions for download and installation of the software
    • The software Installer is digitally signed, using a registered and strongly encrypted certificate. This ensures that the installer does not contain any malware of viruses and is safe for user computers
  • Simergy Support & Issue Resolution
    • When a user experiences a crash or exception while using Simergy, we trap the exception and show the user a dialog asking them to describe what they were doing just before the problem occurred. This information will help us try to reproduce the problem so that we can resolve it. They can then upload this description, together with the software stack trace to the support server, by clicking on the “Send Report” button.
