Zone Service Hot Water

Workspace:  Buildings-Building/Floor/Zone Definition-Create/Zone Service Hot Water

Workspace Areas:   Active Project Model Tree - 3d view - 2d view

Related Workspaces: Zone Service Hot Water - Zone Natural Ventilation

When a user has assigned a thermal zone to a Zone Service Hot Water Group, the letters (SG) will appear at the end of the thermal zone listing on the Project Tree.

Zone Service Hot Water Table

At a basic level, the table contains three columns.  Once a Zone Service Hot Water (SHW) Group has been created (New) the user can then select one or more thermal zones from the Project Tree or Plan View  and drag and drop them into the table and associate them with a specific Zone Group.

Tip: When dragging and dropping thermal zones from the Project Tree, make sure to drop them on the Zone Group name.

Zone Service Hot Water Group Name

The unique name that is assigned by default or is entered by the user.  The name entered is the one that will appear in the Project Tree under Zone Groups/Service Hot Water Groups.

Note: The user can select within the cell and edit the text directly to create a new name and/or edit the existing.

New

Creates a new row in the table, and provides a default unique (sequential) name in the Zone Group List column.

Delete

The user can select a Zone Group and then by selecting delete they can remove that Zone Group from the model.

Template Service Hot Water

Unlike the other Zone Group types, Service Hot Water Templates are only displayed in the Template cell of each row in the table.  One or multiple templates can be selected by clicking Assign/Edit Templates

Assign/Edit Templates

Clicking this button will open a dialog, as seen in the image above, where you can choose one or more Fixture Templates to assign to the SHW group.  These templates can be created and edited in the Libraries tab under "Water Equipment|Service Hot Water".  To add a template to the Zone Group, select one or more template names under Available Fixture Templates and click Add.  To remove, select one or more templates under Assigned Fixture Templates and click Remove.

Save

Click Save to apply any changes made in the Assign/Edit Templates pop up

Cancel

Click Cancel to discard any changes made in the Assign/Edit Templates pop up

Edit Values

By selecting Edit Value the user can directly access the selected Service Hot Water Template via a pop-up window as shown in the image above.  Within the pop-up window the user can make changes to the template just as they would if they went to the Templates/Data Templates/Service Hot Water workspace.

Save

Saves the template changes to the Project Model Source Library associated with the project.

Close

Closes the template properties pop up.  Will discard any changes made if Save isn't clicked first.

Tip: If just reviewing the Templates content and no changes have been made, just select Close or the red X in the upper right of the pop-up dialog to close it without saving.

Assign SHW Loop

After assigning templates, the SHW Group needs to be assigned to a SHW systems loop.  From the dropdown, you can select a loop that already exists in the model or create a new, default SHW Loop.  SHW Loops can be edited in the Systems tab under Create/Edit Water Loops.

Example: Creating a Zone Service Hot Water Group

  1. Navigate to Zone SHW Groups workspace

  2. Create a new Zone SHW Group by clicking New

  3. Add Thermal Zones to the Group by dragging and dropping or using the right-click menu

  4. Assign Templates to the Group by clicking Assign/Edit Templates, selecting the desired templates, and clicking Add and then Save

  5. Assign a SHW system loop to the Group by selecting or creating a loop from the drop-down
